“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” ― Pablo Picasso

I doodled and drew a lot when I was young, but I did not pursue this; instead for many reasons I entered a ‘No-Art-Phase’ which lasted for 15 years. In 2002 I met an Irish man (my now partner, an artist himself) in my home town of Berlin and he opened that ‘art box’ for me again. Berlin had (and has) sooo much to offer in that regard that my innate passion had been reawakened; it felt like a new life. I knew finally what was missing.

“Clay has a memory” I was taught when I started pottery evening classes in early 2008 in the Grennan Mill Craft School in Thomastown, Kilkenny, IRE, just after my relocation from Berlin, Germany, in 2007. After a few series of classes I set up my own studio at home, added a kiln et voilà! I haven’t stop since!

I began with small sculptures and for many years I created FISH in any form and colour as ‘bringer of luck and good fortune’, which derived from my upbringing by my superstitious Ukraine mother (which I thoroughly embraced) as well as collections of framed ceramic trees - a must for me as a tree lover - , funny animals and other themed wall pieces.

In the time of Covid pandemic in 2021 I rediscovered my love for making sculptures; a new start & back to the roots, focusing on creating women sculptures, with the occasional appearance of quirky animals.

In 2023 I am attending markets more often; recently the Saturday Market in Waterford Cultural Quarter, O’Connell Street, offering decorative tiles and figures for the small budget.

Framed Fish are also recently to find swimming at the Tramore Coastguard Cultural Center(Co.Waterford) - check the stair case…

I am holding a workshop every month in my studio, creating animals by using hand-building techniques. For enquiries- please contact me.

I have some framed work displayed in the Restaurant ‘ESPRESSO’ in Parnell St. Waterford and also in the Tramore Coastguard, Love Lane.

My studio is based in Mooncoin, South-Kilkenny, just at the door steps of Waterford.
